Open dialogues about media literacy and factual information can create conflict; why does this happen?

It is admitted that open dialogue between media literacy and factual information can create various conflicts. One of the reasons is that not many people have access to media literacy education before. Media literacy allow people to get information effectively and efficiently and evaluate information critically and competently (Fadel & Trilling, 2009). People who do not learn media literacy would too much focus on themselves and do not think from others’ perspective. They always hope to be affirmed by others. They only choose to believe those news which can meet their needs and refuse to listen to news they do not agree with (Smith, 2020).

What is the benefit of having a PLN that values media literacy?

There are many benefits of having a PLN that values media literacy. As for audience, they would be greatly improved when they communicate with others. They would tend to verify the information and identify other points of view. During this process, audience need to think critically about the rightness. As for content, media literacy helps audience create their own PLN and integrate with their cultural elements.
